Explore The Jurassic Coast just a short walk away.

Dorset is one of the most unspoilt counties with lots of area's of outstanding natural beauty. England's first natural World Heritage Site extends for 95 miles from Purbeck in the east to Exmouth in the west. It is known as the Jurassic coast and attracts visitors from all over the world. West Dorset is still a rural community offering visitors a taste of days gone by whist providing all the amenities and comforts of modern living.

The quiet but well served village of Chideock has a shop, a tea garden and two pubs serving local beers and food. There is a children's play area and recreation ground nearby. The beautiful and dramatic coastal scenery at Seatown is only a short walk away where there is a pub overlooking the beach. Parking is available at either the pub or an adjacent car park. In the village and surrounding area there are many good places to eat; seafood being a speciality. Many ares in the immediate vicinity can be reached without a car. If you are feeling energetic how about a walk up Golden Cap, the highest point on the whole of the south coast at 191 metres, what views!

Slightly further a field to the east, just over two miles away, is Bridport. This little market town has retained the charms of a bygone era with lots of independent traders and shops providing a truly local service. Markets days are held on a Wednesday and a Saturday each week.

Just over three miles to the west is Charmouth, the centre of fossil country! There are plenty of other places of interest to explore by car. The bustling county town of Dorchester, the seaside resorts of Weymouth, Lyme Regis and the famous Chesil Beach are all nearby. Find the real places that inspired Thomas Hardy when writing his novels. Visit the many pre-historic forts, sights and numerous picturesque villages that are all over Dorset. Explore the natural charm of the area and coastline.

Within easy driving distance the east are the runins of Corfe Castle, the beaches at Studland, the Swanage Railway and Lulworth Cove. To the west are Sidmouth, Beer, Exmouth and the city of Exeter.

Bridport tourist information centre is in South Street, Bridport and is open Mon-Sat 9am to 5pm (April to October) and 10am to 3pm (November to March). Tel: 01308 424901.
They have lots of information about the area and good guide books on the walks.
